2019 has started well for both of AFC Bournemouth’s Women’s Teams, with both sides recording emphatic 2-0 wins on the opening weekend of the year.
At home to Barton Rovers, second half goals from substitute Hannah Bennett and Jade Hockey were enough to secure all three points for the Cherries. Bournemouth are now up to third in the Southern Region Women’s Premier League after a run in which the team have won six of the last seven league matches.
AFC Bournemouth Women’s development squad on the other hand played away to Horndean, and after dictating possession and penning the home side in their half for much of the early stages, under-16 Grace Morgan broke the deadlock on her debut. The lead was doubled when Sofia Sinaguglia scored a virtuoso solo goal just before the break.
“I am pleased with the result today and for the debutants that came into the team.” Said development squad coach David Staddon. “Grace, playing in her first game in senior football, took her goal well and looked very composed throughout, which is really promising for the future”
