How to deal with your waste responsibly during lockdown

05 May 2020

Being unable to visit the local recycling centre doesn’t mean you can’t start clearing out your attic. Here are a few ways that you can deal with your waste responsibly during lockdown.

General Waste

Many people have looked at lockdown as the perfect opportunity to clear out and reorganise their cluttered garage, attic or basement. It may not be until you start this undertaking that you realise just how much junk you’ve collected over the years! Hiring a skip is the perfect way to dispose of your non-recyclable mixed waste and requires minimal stress and hassle.

Our skip hire service is competitively priced and convenient, with delivery right to your front door. We have a wide range of skip sizes available, ranging from 4 yards through to 12 yards. Order a skip online and save 10%! We deliver to BH, DT1, SO41, SO42 and SO43 postcodes.

Donation Boxes

Found a bunch of old teddies, toys, books and films whilst decluttering your home? Why not create some donation boxes and give them to your local charity or second hand shop? It’s a great way of getting rid of items that are still in good condition whilst reducing landfill waste. No doubt someone will be thankful for what you have to give.

However, please do not leave your donation boxes outside of charity shops; instead, hold onto them until shops reopen. If left outside, the contents of your box could be ruined by rain, animals or stolen. However well-intentioned you may be, you could cause more hassle for charity store workers once they arrive back at work, since they will need to go through and dispose of damaged objects.

W&S Recycling has a shop located on Mannings Heath Road in Poole which displays all kinds of things, from furniture through to handbags. We would be happy to accept your donation once we reopen following lockdown.

W&S is one of the leading recycling companies in the UK, offering a comprehensive range of sustainable services including plasticpaperglass and WEEE recycling and skip hire for both private homes and businesses.
