Cottees Auctions

Cottees was started at the beginning of the 20th century in Wareham by Samuel Cottee as an agricultural firm of auctioneers. As the century progressed, Cottees became involved in the selling of house contents and later antiques and collectables.

Today the company has re-located to Poole and is situated in Mannings Heath Road in purpose built premises from where items are sold by auction all over the world.

Cottees were one of the first auction businesses in the country to use the internet for selling via www.thesaleroom.com. but they are also keen to give customers personal service and welcome many hundreds of people through the doors to the fortnightly auctions.

The company is well known for its specialist sales of Poole Pottery and Collectable Toys and Model Railway but since moving to Poole it is now specialising in other areas including 20th century Decorative Arts, Jewellery, Fountain Pens and Watches, Pop and Rock Memorabilia including Vinyl Records and are always interested in selling motor vehicles, boats - in fact anything large!

Sales have increased month on month and the target for 2016 will be in excess of two million pounds. The auction business remains competitive but Cottees are well placed in the Poole and Bournemouth area to offer great service and results.

The saleroom is open Monday to Friday for delivery of goods and for valuations (not auction days) from 10am to 4pm.

Auctions take place fortnightly on Tuesdays at 10am with viewing on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm, Monday 10am to 4pm and morning of sale from 9am. Catalogues are on view from Thursday prior to sale at www.thesaleroom.com and on the company website www.cottees.co.uk. There is plenty of onsite parking as well as catering facilities.

Plans for the future at Mannings Heath Road include a permanent exhibition of Poole Pottery and a world renowned exhibition of a working model railway housed in purpose built building at the front of the site. An ever changing display of interesting items are also on display and at present include motorbikes and vintage cars. The Cottees Market Portland Stone sculpture by local artist Jonathon Sells is also on permanent display at the side of the saleroom.
